If i go back and look i can quickly see that this topic has been beaten to death we are not planting any seeds or shining new light on a topic we are just rehashing the same thing over and over again. On a board where the general rule of thumb is if you can't say something nice don't say anything I fail to see how calling someone racist can be appropriate. As i said in my previous post the sex industry is a microcosm of overall society so yea there are racist clients and SP's that is no surprise... but in my experience people who work in the sex industry are way more open and accepting to diversity that the general population. Maybe we just need to stop applying labels. Just my Opinion

However, there are safer sex practices which can reduce the risk of acquiring STIs (side note: they're mostly referred to as sexually transmitted infections as not all infections will have symptoms or develop into a disease. Also, infections can be and generally are treatable, whereas disease can carry a lot of stigma. Thanks everyone for the reply's and input. I've always just took it at a loss and chocked it up to part of the game. With having the bad experiences i will say it makes the times you find an amazing one that much better. Sucks that a person has to go through a few bad times though. I end up leaving feeling like i just took advantage of someone in a bad situation instead of having spent time with someone for both our enjoyment. Yes, it is as simple as saying, 'while i don't want to do this myself, it isn't right for me to impose my unwillingness in the form of penalizing laws'. With this community being an excellent source of information, us providers who are experienced and have learned the hard way we can share our words of wisdom to those who are just beginning their business:) So post what you have learned over the years and let's help our lady friends get started in right direction:) I will begin with this word: Investments for ads. The cheapest investment is your effort and time you put in on your advertisements. You may not have much cash in the beginning to invest in expensive ads, photo's and search engines. But, by putting a real effort into making your ads well written ( IE: Do not use "i" use the proper "I"), fun and enticing is a good start. Make it interesting with theme, but still be yourself. What is that makes you amazing? Learn the tools that are available. Maybe write yourself a few good ads that you can copy paste, add or subtract from. Put time into building your own site. This will eliminate the need of hiring or bartering off for skills. There are so many web site builders are easy to use. Also for posting your ads, find reliable places such as CERB, EC, etc...Make sure the site you use reflects your standards. If using a paid classified ad such as BP and you only have a small budget, post them on the pay days or buy a month package. Read, watch and learn from other ladies. See what is it that YOU like about them, BUT do not copy them! Just ask yourself, why do I like this ad? This photo? Then see if it is within your means. Also more sites you use, the easier it is to find you in google searches. Hope other ladies will add to this? What is the next major step for new business ladies should consider?

Learn to say no. Learn to set boundaries, and when they are set, no exceptions. Do not think that you are hurting someone's feelings or risking future trouble/harassment when you say no to someone rude, pushy, or asks for services outside your boundaries. You are showing them you are not a pushover, and you are freeing yourself up for the next caller, who is not rude and pushy. In other words, just because someone calls, doesn't mean you can't say no to them.

I always say safety comes first in terms of knowledge of the industry, especially for those who are new. Find a good doctor and/or gynecologist one who is open to what you are doing, some are and some aren't and educate yourself on the potential risks of what services you are going to offer (always a risk but some are greater than others). Find out where the free clinics are too in your local area just incase you really need one and your regular doctor is not available. They usually have a ton of information on different diseases, risk potential etc. and are more compassionate about your choice to be in the industry, easier to talk to sometimes than your regular doctor may be. Most free clinics also give out free condoms, lube, some have dental dams, female condoms - make use of that. Some cities also have condom fairies where they will come to your home or your workspace and drop condoms and lube off to you. Team up with an experienced SP or two, you certainly don't have to meet them in person but even just build up a relationship with them via pm, phone or email, whatever your comfort level. We are often left feeling isolated and most of us can't talk to our mainstream friends or family about what it is that we do, so try not to do that to yourself. You can also see if they're willing to help you with time checks etc. Educate yourself on local advocates in your area too, in case a serious instance happens (hopefully not) they are a great resources in terms of information, legal info and support. They too can provide you with tons of information of risks surrounding the industry and practices/services you're offering and they also have free condoms, lube avail. And well you can talk to them about EVERYTHING. Some of them are retired, part time or full time in the industry and some have never worked, but they choose to support us and you'll find they are a very understanding and wonderful bunch of ladies.

It's only happened to me in Halifax believe or not. I travel a lot and as such I follow FunValerie's advice and get references. In the States most SPs won't see you without a reference or two and I've adapted my own version for my own safety and peace of mind. That is, if the SP doesn't require a reference then it's not a good sign and also usually when you communicate with a SP over several emails or texts you can assess the quality and professionalism of the SP. As far as when you find yourself in that situation my own take is that you're out of luck really, it's unfortunate but a reality sometimes.

Regarding the efficacy of the PSA test as a screening device, this was the subject of discussions I had recently with my family doc and a urologist. The crux of the study is the the PSA test can give up to 20% false positives and goes on to explore the unnecessary costs in dollars and resources caused by those false positives. Both Docs acknowledged the false-positive issue but pointed out that 20% false means 80% accurate. What drew me into these discussions was a PSA result this year some 400% higher than last year. We all agree that any marker that changes that much is worthy of a look-see. Just as you wouldn't ignore an active fire alarm just because it's probably just a faulty battery, this change should be investigated. We are taking the approach that there are a lot of things that could cause this that are not worth getting excited about so we're not getting worked up about it. Once we have biopsy results we'll reevaluate how excited we should be. I like to think of this whole exercise as my personal Movember project.

This is the thing that I think needs to be stressed. I don't trust the media to give an unbiased report with all the facts. I'm not denying that there is some concern, just saying that keeping ones wits about them is important. A lot of "misinformation" gets spewed out every day in our world and we have to think for ourselves and not just trust everything we read. I find that men from certain countries, particularly new immigrants from those certain countries, were not raised in a culture in which women are equal or highly valued or treated delicately. Which makes the job tougher than it already is. Ladies' screening processes are none of anybody's business, whether those screening processes would be deemed 'racist' or not by the general public.

Honestly, I have no idea how common it is. There are a very few providers who put restrictions in their ads; there are a larger number who explicitly state that they don't discriminate based on race. As RG said, all providers have the same right as anyone else to reject anyone they don't want to get it on with, no matter how good or bad their reasons may be. But clients decide who to see or not see for all sorts of reasons, and there are probably quite a lot of us who find overt racism to be rather distasteful...

It's not racism, it's personal preference. I choose the ladies that I want to spend time with and certain skin colours do not get my attention because it does not turn me on. Does that make me a racist? I don't believe so, at least I hope not.

I fully agree with Lady Sophia. Too many times I receive an email with a message such as , 'send me all your info by text to xxx-xxxx' Sure buddy, I will 'text' all 6 pages of my website to you! With this new bill coming into play, a fair number of us providers will certainly be revamping our sites to make them more 'readable' in the eyes of the law. Most websites are pretty clearly laid out with information for you. It only takes a few minutes to read, see if there are 'playtimes' you wish, and have the information at your fingertips. Asking a provider to send you all the information, we wouldn't be able to see anyone if we spent all day doing just that, lol! Take the time to view our sites, they are there for that reason, and please be respectful in contacting a provider in the way they wish to be contacted. Answers aren't always instant, we could be in an appointment, not available at that moment to access email, or even driving. Give us a chance to read emails, text messages, etc, and give us a little bit of notice. One person asked me for 'right way'......he was four hours outside of my area! Be respectful, and patient, like the gentlemen I know you all are :)
