Can we PLEASE stop comparing SPs to restaurants or retail stores? We're not. We're people offering a service. If you're going to use comparisons, then look at the variance in personal services such as life coaches, personal trainers, or hair dressers -- unregulated personal services. Differences in prices don't necessarily relate to differences in appearances, or services, or whatnot. There are a variety of factors involved in why someone structures their rates the way they do.

Katherine and Danielle are correct here, I feel insulted that you chose to 'sleep with sp's but am afraid of becoming HIV before I'm 25'. The sp's I know are clean and well cared more medically. We sp's take great care to be clean, for all of those involved in our lives. Can you say that about your 'new love'? Did she screen every single person she has been with in here life? I know I did. Bartering as a first contact will most likely get shot down. Sorry, but I charge much more then my massage therapist, so, in order for a barter to work, there has to be an even exchange that works for both. However, if a regular were to propose a barter for something I wanted, I might be open to that. I had one that would plow my yard - that was his tip for my services - he still paid my rate. I tried to give him money back, but he wouldn't take it, so I would give him extra time, but he was always so busy in the winter, he couldn't stay longer anyways. I had one want to help me with renovations, but I felt weird with that as he would be in my personal space for along time, and I was not comfortable with that at that time. I've had so many contact me for photo's - I look on their website, and really, I wouldn't pay for their services as they don't seem to have an eye for this type of photography. They might be ok at wedding photography, but boudoir is a totally different type of photography. That said, there are some who do accept barters - not to be confused with negotiating - that is never acceptable in my opinion. Just never as a first contact though.

There is some WELL reviewed SP here that charge between 180-400/hr and some of them have dozen of pages of reviews. It doesn't make the lower end rates less worth it or less "upscale" than the ladies that charge 400

There is different ways to look at this. Mostly, you will be turned away. I've gotten texts saying, "you should be paying me for the massage." Well, sorry but where is your ad again? If someone was willing to pay everything, drivers test, drivers school, a new/used car, I would barter. Those things aren't cheap to do. If someone was willing to pay for courses at the College for me and text books, I would barter. Also known as a Sugar Daddy. If someone wanted to see me X amount of times during the month and offered to pay my rent at the beginning of the month and all my other bills, I would consider bartering. But that would depend. Also known as a Sugar Daddy. It honestly depends. Bartering for a massage because you do them, doesn't get you anywhere. You can be posting ads and making a profit if you want that so why would you be contacting SPs? I find it annoying that those drivers and massage people contact me, as if I would reply. If I needed a driver I would find one myself, if I needed a Professional Massage I will go get it done professionally. Another thing to consider, if you are licensed and get caught doing sexual services your license will be revoked and there goes your license. Why risk that only to be with SPs? In the realm of my work, if a barter was brought to the table it better be a damn good barter.

If you'll all forgive me, I'm going to digress into a meta-post for a moment. Some folks have expressed the opinion that we really shouldn't be having this conversation and rates should never be questioned. I agree that it's inappropriate to question any individual provider's rates, but... I think there's significant value in having a conversation about rates in general. I've seen it in the past, but I don't think it has happened recently. That means there's probably quite a few people who are reading this for the first time and, therefore, benefiting from it. Yes, the rates can look pretty high, especially if you're new to the industry - but as Pete said, if you think they're bad here, take a look at what you'd pay south of the border. What we clients often don't understand immediately is how much time providers spend on things for which they don't get paid directly (which hasn't been talked about much in this thread), and how much money all the behind-the-scenes stuff costs. I'd like to thank the ladies who took the time to give us some idea of that - and Mia in particular. Guys, remember: the person you're spending time with is like a swan. She may look serene and beautiful on the surface... but there's a hell of a lot of paddling going on underneath. Okay, that's enough discussion about the discussion. As you were!

Being in business, the rates of the professionals I hire vary, that's a fact. Lawyers, engineers, etc, their rates vary, and it's up to me to decide which one I want to have, and pay accordingly. Period. I do not want to discuss the rates with the people I decide to hire; if it does not suits me, I use another one. It all depends on the business plan of the individual. At any rate, if their business is satisfying their goal, why not charge the right price. And it's the same for me. Why I would charge less, if the demand for my service is high, and can get more for the effort and service I offer ? Why not? I do not adjust my rates to the budget of those who want to employ me. I may, but it's my call. Offer and demand is, in a way, the rule. Do we discuss the hockey player contracts ? Maybe! But they sign their contract at the highest rate and somebody is ready to pay the price they ask. Why they would lower their demand ? I may dream to meet super stars models, but I can't afford it. But it still in my dreams. I feel lucky that all the ladies here on Lyla are of very high quality, with very high standards, at a price I can afford. Thanks girls.

Why is cauliflower so expensive this year... why has the price of oil fluctuated so much... Why oh why are there not standardized pricing for all the things we buy.... perhaps the government should step in and impose some form of price controls on all products and services so as to ensure that the appropriate value is placed on everything.... ahhhh but wait there is the rub... not everyone agrees on the value of everything it would appear that individuals in fact do have the ability to determine for themselves what value they place on certain goods or services and remarkably the free market tends to be a pretty good way for that willing seller and willing purchaser to connect and carry out that business transaction. If the buyer feels they are no getting appropriate value for their money they decline to purchase and if the seller feels they are not getting paid enought to cover the value of th good or service being sold they don't sell it... pretty simple when you think about it. I have never been a seller in this particular market but I like to kid myself into thinking that the reason for that is the fact that the market would not pay the enormous value I place on myself when in fact the reality is there is no market for a 55 year old, over weight married guy in this industry lol OFGILF But what I have learned over the years is that if a lady Is selling a service as intimate as what we are discussing (hypotheticly of course given our current laws) then the only person who really needs to be 100% comfortable in the valuation is HER... if I as the client have a problem with the valuation I can just move along she has to live with it. As for the general concept of value for money in this industry I have a a distinct pleasure of meeting ladies who provide service at most of the various price points and frankly while I have seldom been disapointed... I am always fealt that I kinda get what I pay for and as a result the majority of my repeat encounters have been at the higher price point so I guess that suggests to me that I see Value in the money I am spending.
