I frequently visit Montreal and while there on my spare time I visit strip bars in downtown area as I love beautiful ladies especially if I can hug and kiss them and exchange affection. There is no free buffet as we have here in almost all bars some free lunch (like Barbarellas) and in some bars both free lunch and Supper as well during weekdays (like Barefax and Pigale). I find only in one Montreal bar the ladies are as friendly (Cloepatra) where they sit with patrons and chat and kiss but in most other bars I find dancers very business oriented. The overcharge happens there too especially if they find out you are visiting from Ottawa. Admittingly there are more dancers in all Montreal clubs so it is more enjoyable to watch stage dancing but the private dances even though perceived as half price but they are not nearly as much fun as in Ottawa. So appreciate your Ottawa strip bars and private dances and come out and support these clubs and the ladies so that they are not forced to close down or quit. The City of Montreal though is admittingly much more fun than Ottawa. You can just walk on downtown streets free of charge and enjoy the beautiful scenery (I am not referring to green scenery) with beautiful women of all ages from various racial backgrounds dressed some exotically (especially in summer time) and if you wish for more then there are dance bars all over on St. Laurent north of St. Catherines and East of St. Laurent on St. Catherines (if you love Francophone ladies) and Crescent Street (if you love Anglophone ladies) all lovely and friendly and with liberal friendly open French culture. Beyond that, a more holistic push to address the social factors that drive people to "survival" work will have further positive impact on street-based sex work - so addressing poverty, an insufficient social safety net, housing insecurity, lack of affordable education, economic factors that push people to leave their home communities for bigger cities where they lack a support system, employment discrimination against trans people, etc. Clients don't have to support the organizations and work that already exists, but it would be prudent to do so. Sex workers have been organizing for decades, and have created a vibrant and robust global movement. I have yet to see any meaningful movement toward clients organizing for decriminalization. While you may view the work of sex workers rights organizations to be a failure, there have been many successes in an uphill battle against stigma and moralizing. If clients don't want to support sex worker orgs, how are they going to show up and advocate for decriminalization? How will they participate in applying the public pressure that definitely is necessary to create change?

I think that technology, and in particular social media has simply changed the way people approach communication. We are in the IM, PM, FB Message era. Calling and emailing are old school technologies. They are too formal and therefore too much work. Web sites are one-way communications, which is becoming as antiquated as reading a newspaper ad. If someone wants info, they ask. They don't go find it. I see this in my own world, as I administer some facebook pages for some other businesses. 24 hours a day, there are questions like "What time is X location open until?" Messaging is an informal conversation that doesn't require the niceties of email or calls. It's instant and to the point. It's communication at it's simplest. I don't think that this is limited to the new generation either, although they are usually the driving force that shape new technologies. There is one other motivation that may factor into it in regards to this industry though. Many may simply be trying to open up a conversation, as opposed to looking for info that is already available. This may mean that they are tire kickers, but it also may mean that they are simply inexperienced at "the opening", leaving it to you to establish a rapport. I would never take this approach myself as I have 8 years of experience reading threads like this that tell me I shouldn't. ;) Many do not have that advantage.

I will never understand why people do this, ever! If you have no intention of keeping your appointment or at least having enough respect to cancel in a timely manner, then don't book. I feel a lack or the non-existence of mass public protests is a big achilles' for the sex industry.
