I think the why is fairly obvious. Getting confirmation that she is extremely hot and spectacular is a great starting point but, sharing information and promoting great SPs are what this site is about so, recommendations can provide more complete info. Recommendations can address accuracy of photos, communication style (quick or need to be patient), location (obviously not exact location but maybe hotel/private residence, part of town that you are comfortable with, maybe condition of location if it impacted your enjoyment of the session), quality of time spent, and maybe something about services offered (although ymmv but something about restrictions could be useful for us and the SP). If you had a great overall experience let us know so, we can learn and explore possibilities for ourselves. Good recommendations benefit us and also the SPs that deserve them! I can’t comment on how hard it is to post in the reco section or barriers/delays by mods but, I assume if you are posting a true “recommendation” it will get there. I'm going to regret posting I'm sure... It's not only a power play. You are undermining and underestimating how at risk providers are. Again as stated multiple times if you don't want to do it then don't. Asking for ID tends to make people behave better then when they are anonymous. Having someone's ID also means if there is an issue like assault the provider has the clients real info to take to the police instead of "well he told me his name was X but it's probably fake." Those are two pretty understandable reasons. Now I would hope that an SP would delete your ID and not keep a record of it after you see them and all goes well but I don't know and assume most probably keep it for some time at least. You have to decide if that is worth the risk when you go to book. And to the original topic I think it's fine to ask for verification for lesser known providers who only post on LL. The providers with websites, reviews, active social media, etc you shouldn't ask because you can verify yourself through those channels.

Most men who are engaging in this behavior are woefully paranoid. If you're worried about being blackmailed maybe you shouldn't engage in dubious activities to begin with. The simple fact is that these ladies are already at a disadvantage. It is in your interest to make them feel comfortable and safe. If jumping through a few hoops isn't for you, then maybe this hobby isn't for you either. There are plenty of ways to verify if an SP is real on your own without even asking.

Service providers get assaulted and murdered everyday. All it takes is a quick Google search and you’ll see this happens here in Canada, the US, and globally. Well, I wouldn't say unpopular, but not everyone shares this view. I happen to fully agree with you. SPs take risks with strangers we can't fully comprehend. If they choose not to verify themselves for legitimate or less savoury reasons, or require a deposit and that doesn't jive with someone's preference then those folks should move on to someone more accommodating or more easily verifiable through other means.
