Police Stings

Hey all 

 

Just wondering if anyone has ever got caught in a police sting operation here in Halifax or if they even happen around here. Just curious mostly

Funny thing I have to say about that

Im always concerned about this , even when I try the sugar baby sites. This one time I had this very sophisticated lady coming to my hotel. I was a little concerned so I tell her"Ill know you arent a cop if you go totally topless the minute after you enter the hotel. So she comes in and bang --- totally naked in a few seconds. She has been a regular now for years. 

I honestly think this is the only test even by pics or vids

I wouldn’t worry about “police stings” the only time authorities are concerned is if people are underage, and rightfully so. If you’re drama free and respectful, no one has anything to worry about! I’ve never had any problems 🙂

I think it's possible that this recent revolving door of Asian providers here may bring some unwanted attention to the industry. Whether there is something more nefarious going on there or not, the optics are not good.

The only strings that are happening are underage and well deserved.

a good percent of cops are v greasy and know all the tricks 

 

as for stings , if the cops were interested they could post some ads on here and LL and use some female cops for entrapment and round up all of us within a month 

but they don’t because it’s borderline even being a crime and way too much work for tiny payback 

there’s been payment for sex since the cavemen and modern day chimps have been seen trading food for sex , how are you going to beat that , it’s in our shared dna

I have been in escorts since 1991 and I’ve never been involved in a sting operation. I can tell you that the police are only interested in catching people who are involved in human trafficking, especially underage providers, and those working against their will or where there other activities going on that are illegal, such as John’s, cruising outdoor sex, workers, extortion, drug, dealing, etc. if you are seeing providers to work indoors and it’s consensual, and there are no other nefarious activities going on, then you don’t need to worry about sting operations. This is Canada, not the United States.

Agreed, but it’s only been possible to prosecute the clients since the adoption of the Nordic model several years back. Until then there was no law against it in Canada. That said, I’ve not seen any evidence of targeting the gents yet.
My comment about the recent rotating door of visiting Asian girls was pointing out that although definitely stereotypical, (and that doesn’t make it true) it has the air of a trafficking operation which they are definitely on the lookout for.

I've never heard of it, but police have been known to pose as a minor/under 18.. That's usually how they do stings here in NS

In other countries where both sides of the transaction are illegal that happens, but here It's legal for escorts to sell services so there's not really a way for the cops to leverage them. I suppose its possible if they were caught on some unrelated charge but that seems like a stretch. As has been mentioned there's virtually no history of stings around here, you should be far more concerned about being scammed/robbed by a provider than being caught up a sting.

Maybe I'm naive but how does that even work? It's legal in Canada for an escort (or other provider) to sell their services but it is illegal to buy those services from my understanding? Seems like Canada is confused. If it's legal to sell it should be legal to buy. I was going to say "make up your mind" but I guess that could then go in the wrong direction and become illegal both ways which would then likely cause more stings and issues for both the providers and purchasers...

It's called the nordic model, and you are right to be confused because it makes zero sense. The theory is that suppliers are all victims and therefore it's wrong to criminalize them, so instead they exclusively target the demand side. If they take away all the demand, then it's no longer profitable to be a provider. They also provide "resources" to help providers leave the industry and "awareness and education campaigns for the public". I don't know what the hell that means beyond tax payer money giving some government consultant a cushy six-figure job.

So that's the theory, but in practice it would be quite the undertaking to limit the demand to that extent. Based on what's been discussed in this thread it's clear they aren't even attempting to do this. Obviously if your goal is to end the industry you need to target both supply and demand (aggressively), and if you don't want to end the industry you should legalize both supply and demand (while probably adding some kind of regulations).

I guess another piece to the nordic model is that if it's legal to sell then providers have some form of support and protection. Let's say someone sees a provider and assaults them. The provider then has the ability to go to the police and report the assault without risk to themselves. 

Of course this same model also harms the buyer as I've heard of some people meeting and getting beaten and robbed (the purchaser in this case) and they of course have no recourse because they were technically doing something illegal.

So I see the "protecting the providers" piece of it for sure but it's still weird.
