I thought the op asked about the legal aspect of helping and SP with her business not how to become a pimp? I am reading this and wondering why his thread as suddenly turned into a lecture? 4 or 5 years ago, I helped an SP getting some furniture and other things on many occasions. I will add to this. If you are doing it for the money, better think again. Unless perhaps you think taking half the fee is a good for the lady and yourself. Even then Half the fee means you both have to work 2x's the appointments then otherwise. That is if you are only representing the one lady. This thread has degenerated in to name calling and mud slinging from all angles. Most of which as far as I can tell has very little to do with the current thread as it does very strong personality conflicts. As a client who actually lives in St. John's and visits with SP's in this city please let me provide some "legitimate" insight into what has actually occured as a result of this news story. Some of the story was indeed true St. John's and Newfoundland in general is a boom economy. There is significant excess disposible income available to enjoy lifes luxuries including the company of professional companions. Is there money to be made here? Yes! Is it a gold mine? No! Not every lady will succeed the same way. What many of the people that will be reading these posts don't comprehend is our culture. Yes, our province is undergoing a transition however in most respects our province and its population are still old school puritan in their thinking. What may be considered mainstream and accepted in other cities just does not jive here. As much as Newfoundlanders would like to make people believe that we are as metropolitan as anyone else it's simply not the case. Over the past few days this story has generated significant debate and discussion on radio shows and around water coolers. What they all are talking about is not, Emily, Kiessy or any other lady by name. It's not their websites. What everyone talks about is just a couple of statements made by the SP that was interviewed. First one is the $28000 in three week statement which was made in a in your face bragging way. I know there might be debate about the figures but that's irrelevant. The amounts are out there and quite frankly shocked the public into listening to the rest of the information (CBC knew this would happen it's the attention grabber). Second, it was the truthful but perceived boastful comment that, "SP's are filling the need that wives and girlfriends can't" (paraphrase). People were shocked and like a cold bucket of water to the face were awakened to this industry in it own back yard. People will now look for it where they didn't before. People here took those comments that were made directly by the interviewed SP (not CBC) as somewhat offensive and an afront to the beliefs of our province as a people. Now I don't believe that the SP that was interviewed had any intention to blab out things that ad fuel to fires but CBC journalists are specifically trained to ask questions that will lead you and get them the juicy amswers they want (the sound bites). I have received weeks of media training and I would be extremely cautious on sitting down with a reporter that surely had an agenda. The reporter will not stop until he has a story and he will lead you to say things that you would never normally say. It is for this reason I believe that this SP or any SP (including Emily)should avoid being put in a position of having to answer questions. Due to the firestorm that has ensued from this interview and news story the prostution scene is now under a microscope in St. John's. Everyone involved will have to really be looking over their shoulder wondering if now we have a sting happening. They smell blood in the water because sex sells therefore they will milk this for all they can for the next little while. I have an appointment to meet a lady tomorrow and quite frankly I'm nervous about it where I wasn't before. Sure ladies that got singled out have reason to be concerned now but I'm sure that eventually it'll be ok again. Although CERB is the best resource for NB ladies there still is not a big presence here. When it comes to BP you may have to TOFTT sometimes and report back.
