For my father to survive the second major surgery he is facing in days that could very well kill him on the OR table and then to recover from it (along with the first surgery he is currently recuperating from).

The one thing that didn't seem to be addressed in the article is how the nice guy thought that a woman who was asleep actually wanted to have sex with him at that moment. I understand why he would have thought they were going to have sex eventually, but I don't get how he could think she would like what he was doing and wanted it when a woman is ASLEEP. What is she going to be enjoying, exactly, while she is unconscious? I really feel like this was the wrong case to be having the debate around. It's not a case of them both just being drunk. She was unconscious and apparently that is not debated at all. The man who put his penis inside her agreed that she was unconscious when he did it. So I think that talking about all the mixed signals he was receiving due to cultural factors is a bit moot in this case. Of all the time they spent together, flirting and drinking and all of that, he chose a time when she was passed out to penetrate her. How can he have thought she wanted that? I don't get how that leads to penetrating someone while they are asleep, and then being so confused as to how that wasn't okay. I think if you really have the expectation that a woman is going to have sex with you because she actually wants to, then you would also expect that she needs to be conscious when the sex happens. If the CRs weren't as open but there was to be more enforcement of the existing club regulations, that would mean a much more obvious bouncer presence with them having to get much closer to each couple to see if anything extra is going on. As it stands, they can just do a quick walkthrough of the CR while glancing around the booths, resulting in their presence barely being noticed. Personally, I think that's much less invasive. For what it's worth, the 'cattle pen' set-up is really only noticeable late at night when it's very busy. Well the Ontario Provincial Police, and their municipal counterparts have added some new crimes to the umbrella of "serious crimes". Guess what is now considered as a "serious crime"? Yep, prostitution. What does this mean for most of us? Nothing at all, really. I am a man, and as such, visually driven. I am unable to ignore a beautiful woman, any more than I am capable of not stopping at an accident scene to see what has happened. I recommend a # of song check after three or four songs to prevent any confusion or misunderstanding. If your like me, I lose count when I get lost in the moment. Ultimately, if you can do it, I feel it is best to agree on a charge for 30 mins or agree on an hourly charge at around 300 $. The loophole right now is that the criminal code that this falls under is being questioned in Ontario so the police forces are really turning a blind eye to it all from the looks of it until the higher powers get something done. For instance if you had MEMBERS ONLY swingers party and everyone paid a "membership fee" and consenting adults had sexual conduct during this party without exchanging money... that is legal (it's the prostitution part of hosting events that is illegal). You just need to be careful with that too as say you hire a "hostess" or "host" and that hostess is paid by you (the even organizer) and the hostess or host get involved in any sexual activity then that could be seen as prostitution making the entire party illegal. I do not believe the event organizer can participate or pay anyone involved in any sexual act.... but I am no lawyer so this is something you would want to discuss with a lawyer first if you are concerned with legalities of such an event.

I think that one thing to keep in mind is that most providers who ask for a reference also have alternative screening methods if a reference isn't possible. So it's not quite the roadblock some have made it out to be. I would also say that it is not the case that providers who ask for a reference are not also paying attention to tone, manner, wording, etc. I do not believe most SPs substitute a reference for their own impressions, so I find it odd that it's presented as though there's this dichotomy - either she uses her gut or gets a reference. A reference isn't an excuse not to think for yourself. I'm sure most girls know that. But as to why they would be requested at all, I think that a very good explanation has been given already for why travelling providers use them, but I would also point out that references can be very helpful to someone new to the industry. It's fine to say that we can go by our gut alone, but generally it takes some experience to hone our instinct. Instinct is not some magical talent that some people have, it's not a sixth sense. It is data gathering and pattern recognition most of the time. It takes time to gather enough data to start spotting patterns and figuring out what sounds like a time-waster and who sounds like bad news. We've all interacted with people all our lives so we don't come at this with no data. But for most girls this is still a new way of interacting with people so they need time to learn. In the meantime, references are a second opinion that can help you figure out if your impressions are correct or not. I know that some people are proponents of the school of hard-knocks, but I think in this business the knocks can be pretty hard. For those who are not so new that continue to ask for references, I would simply say why not, if it has always worked for them? For many gentleman, obviously, it is not seen a hoop to jump through so there is no particular reason for them to change a working model. And, as I mentioned, most will offer to screen by more old-school methods if a reference isn't available. But honestly, the whole debate about references only applies to providers who do advance bookings. I don't see how a provider who takes short-notice bookings could ever be expected to contact and hear back from a reference in time. So I think there are just as many valid arguments to be made for not using a reference. I don't think anyone should be judged for using references, as though they are failing to use their own good sense and are making clients jump through hoops, nor do I believe it's ever fair to insinuate that a provider who doesn't require them is being reckless. I also believe that there are reasons a provider would choose not to give references as a policy. I won't go into them in detail, some have been mentioned, but I don't think it's really necessary to defend. CERB is very positive and I love that things can be discussed and debated but I get a bit frustrated, or maybe dismayed, to see people put down for their preferred (and effective) methods of screening a client.

That way no one would be able to add a reply of any kind, which would be completely fair to all and ensures all recos will remain in chronological order as well. Also means that if someone else saw the sp, the only way he can acknowledge that is to write his own reco. I think it was mentioned before that if anyone feels the need to thank or comment or otherwise acknowledge the reviewer posting in the first place, there is the reputation comments for that even in closed threads.
