So I was out and about today with family. I pass by one of the cars set up in st Laurent shopping centre. All of a sudden a guy yells "Kelly!! " (my dancer name) which I ignore because what the heck?!? And he decides to run after us and ask "you are Kelly right? From barbs??" I know most people know better than this but I was shocked. Okay, this thread really pisses me off. Yes, Ottawa has a horrible reputation for cancellations. I used to trust every one. I have a keen sense of who I can trust and cannot. In this industry however I have been saddened to find we are talked about weather it be jealousy or a myriad of different reasons. Being male or female doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm pretty fine with that , this is a place that is very competitive and I guess it can be expected. Life is life. How ever I was once what I had considered to be best friends with another lady here. We ate dinner together , shared laughs and sadness's of life. I truly felt we were forever friends and I loved her. Then things became difficult for me for a short time and I was not able to be the friend I wanted to me. I tried to get through this period of my life without complaining as I knew it was short lived. I was dropped from this persons life because I missed one dinner and acted in a way uncharacteristic to me. If she had only asked or perhaps if I had told exactly the hardship I suffered may be things world have turned out differently. I am still very wounded by this but I will not lose faith. I believe if you look hard enough and are lucky there are many people you can trust and my mind remains open that I will get another great relationship here that can preserve time.

Interesting topic. I'd like to propose a dissenting viewpoint, however. I think it is possible to get a sense of people from their writing and posts, though of course with exceptions. I'd agree that typically in person you can find out even more about someone, especially after time and multiple interactions. However, in my experience there's many people I've first met through online forums, and more often than not if we meet up in person I absolutely recognize aspects of the persona I pictured from their writing. In fact, in some cases you can learn more about someone from their posts. There's people I know who are very shy and quiet in person, and it can be very difficult to get a sense of their beliefs, preferences, ideas, etc. But they are in fact much more open and confident in their writing, and I learn much more about their thoughts and personality through that medium than I do in person. Sometimes--for good or bad--people are more revealing of their true selves through their writing than they are in person. It is true that people have more choice of what to share of themselves in their posts, but I'd say this is also the case in person as well. Sometimes someone can be a real charmer in person and in fact more easily fool you about their true personality. Again, I'm not suggesting that overall meeting in person is more revealing, and that it takes time to get to know someone better. In many cases the points being made by everyone are true. This just illustrates the nonsensical nature of what the Cons are proposing. In light of the recent SCC ruling, brothels will be legal. Despite what the politicians say right now, most of that is to appease the abolitionists and make it look like they are doing something. They have no appetite for making this an issue. Also they will not implement the Nordic model. They know it has the same inherent issues that the over turned sections of the Criminal Code had. It brings back a prohibition on bawdy houses, living off the avails and to some extent the soliciting provision. All that will do is bring the issue back to the front page, where they don't want it to be. The first charge that is laid will be overturned by the first judge that sees the case. Judges don't like having their convictions reversed or judgements overturned, which will happen if they try and convict with the Nordic model. Regardless of what you think of them, most politicians are not stupid, and realize that this is the same laws in a different guise. They cannot let sexworkers work legally and then put the same restrictions in place, which is how the Nordic model works. They will either outright criminalize all aspects or regulate the trade. It is their only two real options.

Galileo's observation When the Italian astronomer Galileo was making his observations of the planets, he noticed something strange. With the naked eye, the brighter of the two planets Venus appeared larger than Jupiter, but when viewed through a telescope, Jupiter was clearly larger. Galileo believed the lens of the human eye caused this so-called "irradiation illusion." But the German physicist Hermann von Helmholtz showed that if the optics of the human eye were to blame, dark objects should be distorted just as much as light ones, which they were not. I have to say that someone needs to defend the GoGo. I've been several times and I (along with friends) travel from Kingston to attend repeatedly. The ladies have always been very nice to us. There have been some who are just money hungry but they are few and it's easy to brush them away in favour of the ones who are worth the money and time. The wait staff has always been nice to us and we've always enjoyed the whole experience. What's really great is we've always been able to meet good people there too whether it be people sitting at the next table or outside during smoke breaks.
