You know make makes my heart ache?...That CERB is one of the few online spaces where workers and clients can speak openly and respectfully about sexuality, our desires, our bodies as they relate to our sexual exchanges...and also about activism. What will this do qualitatively to our online community here?...I think about that. The fact that, in a post C-36 climate, we (workers) cannot represent ourselves in any way where we could be implicate ourselves as a 'known prostitute' (there is so much hurt and stigma embedded in that piece) and belong to and advertise on CERB, pretty much means that I cannot say "I'm a sex worker"....it's actually really huge; the politics of representation and standing firm to make a claim about one's [current] work, one's body... what that means in our community...there's a symbolic anihalation that runs very deep to the core in all of that. Sure we can play semantics, change our job title and terms of service...tow the line to survive, and, of course, we will, but there's a lot of pain and psychic isolation in that... There's are no quick fix comments for these pieces; I know, folks...and I know this thread it mostly being utilized for pragmatics....but there are these other pieces too...like ragged bits in the wind with no place to fall...and, yet they blow around anyway Because we are here :)

Last thing You want to hear, 5am news repeating all the nonsense. Most of my family is aware of what I do for a living. I also have other revenue as well. While they may not approve, they keep these comments to themselves. Extended family if you were to tell them, it's all downhill from there. I've had a few SP friends who had to deal with this at one time or another. Just tell them you have some boring office job doing payroll for a company. Barely anyone understands this type of work unless they're in it. They won't understand no matter how many ways you try to explain it to them. Especially if they're from a different generation... forget it. This business can get lonely and isolating at times but it also has it's advantages and rewards as well. None of which I regret. You just have to know how to balance your personal life and work life. Being an SP is like being in the mob. Don't tell any secrets. End of story.

Maybe, but so far most municipalities have shown very little inclination to include stripclubs into their definition of prostitution. It seems that provinces and municipalities will be selectively enforcing this law, simply because they realize how ill-conceived it is. I ask clients to call me 10 minutes before our appt to get logisitics and tell them if they are delayed and not at the location where I ask them to call me to let me know they are delayed. I've had a few run ins like getting ready and my cell phone fell into the sink where it got damaged with a lot of water or having a crappy phone charger that for some reason wouldn't charge my phone when I really needed it to charge. In this case I wasn't able to contact the client but made it up to one of them by giving them a discount. I've had a few disasters over the years including have a cell phone fall into the toilet. I'm sure in the case of the guy who I was supposed to meet and my cell phone fell into water, I'm sure he was pissed. I don't blame him but had no way of contacting him because his number was on there.

A lady's website should be a reflection of herself. Don't plagiarise titles/content from another lady's website (btw not saying, not even suggesting you do) By the same token, use your own photos. To give a bit of advice that is included in many other discussions at the moment, it would be in your best interest NOT to use a menu or a list of acronyms. Writing and maintaining a website takes a lot of time and energy and right now, we are in a flux point between what we are used to and Bill C36. no one knows who is gathering what information at this point to use at a further point so it is best to create your website in a way that doesn't outright describe sexual services at all. This way you are covered now and when things settle out later, you can look at making changes once you know for sure what is good and legal. Rate is for time and companionship only but many like to see the listed rate. Some SP's chose to discuss that only by phone conversation. As for the rest, it's all about you. Be yourself, determine your business model and create around that. Be aware of who you're wanting to attract as a client. Most of all, have fun!
