I'm not the guy who pushes the limits in the back room. I'm the respectful one. I like to have a good time, but I don't go against club policy. That said, I know some guys and gals do. The owner has cameras in the champagne room to keep everyone safe, in theory, but I've been hearing some disturbing reports. I love new technologies and the idea that I can watch my security camera feed from my phone is welcome news. However, it troubles me that the owner (or manager, or whoever has access) is able to view them from home and/or show the video to their friends. You see, the video isn't just live. It is recorded for them to view. I'm sure it was intended to be used for safety, but I've had more than one person say that the owner has shown them past video of them ON HIS PHONE regarding some transgression in the champagne room that he wants explained. The angle of the cameras leaves much room for supposition on the part of management, and nothing at all in the way of evidence one way or the other. It could look way worse than it actually is. Of course, it could be exactly what it looks like, too. Still, these limited-line-of-sight videos are being used to punish the dancers. I don't know about you, but I don't want there to be recorded video of me getting lap dances. Period. I don't care if it's legal, or within his rights to do so, or not. I won't be returning as long as those cameras exist in the back. There are other clubs not too much further away that I also enjoy.

Interesting discussion. Yes I have been aware of the cameras in Barb's for some time ...years. I remember one in a hanging plant a couple of years back when management was trying to be more covert. It was hanging from the ceiling about half way up the room on the DJ window side. I choose to ignore it personally, other than a couple of dancers did mention it to me as they maneuvered to choose the best booth to mitigate "privacy concerns". I took it in stride rationalizing that management would be "responsible" with the recordings. Kilt Boy's revelations do re-raise concern and to be honest I did not think about "the cloud" and the ability to store terabytes of data. I further rationalized: Who would be interested in watching such, for the most part, benign content even if deposited somewhere in the web environment? I know that is not the point here and I am not thrilled to hear that "sessions" are being shared on cellphones. Yes it would be embarrassing but we all do our own risk assessments, maybe I will have to re-evaluate my thoughts on this one. The truth is even though I find this particular monitoring somewhat evasive, the CCTV age has dulled my "spidey senses" and I have accepted the risk on this one.

To the guys throwing in the argument of "well some girls double book!"- two things. One: you missing out on an appointment is far less of a problem then her missing out on income. You can reschedule with another girl at a moments notice. She can't make that grocery money re-appear. (It SUCKS, yes, but it is not worse.) Two: you won't like this- but its self-created. Gents created that obstacle of doublebooking. SPs cannot get rid of this issue on their own. As, besides the general, I guess "crazies" that routinely do it on backpage, the problem is the general, regular, reputable gents that DO do this. I would count myself lucky in that I've yet to have any ncns, but some girls are having this issue... and I've read guys reactions to being doublebooked is to just fakebook her further. Which makes the problem worse. Which incites more fAkebooking. Etc. Stop the vigilante fakebooking stuff and likely your (excess in) doublebooking problems will go away too.

Very disturbing indeed. Kudos to kilt boy for having the cojones to start this thread. Bottom line is cameras should not be in the champagne room, period. I don't buy the "security" or "dispute" arguments. Although I don't downplay the importance of security, there are less invasive ways to address those concerns. In the end, there can be no guarantees that the footage won't be misused or end up in the wrong hands - especially given the nature of this business. Yes there are reasons why deposits won't work. I like the suggestions of a One strike rule, no show once and deposit required if you want to book again. That or pay cancellation fee to get off the list. Agreed that the goal is to protect these wonderful ladies so they can have a safe and viable business.

I got no problem with someone else doing the booking. It takes away the provider getting a billion texts to check and figure out schedule. I do not like it when the person taking the message from me pretends to be the provider. I used to book with garden of Eden and it worked great. I understand the agent is trying to appeal to a market looking for independents but they come off as shady and dishonest. Because it is. If they focus on providing good service they don't have to play games.

I have a longstanding funny banter with an SP friend of mine in regards to a very few select clients every now and then assume they are "in the club". There is no actual club contrary to what many want to think. Mostly this occurs with people you only meet once who think they have earned the title of "being in the club" and then turn around and ask for a discount on the first date and we say "what club?" From this, I created a running joke with clients about the proverbial VIP club where I will change my schedule or see them at a moment's notice. If it's their birthday, I will extend extra time for them and do something nice for them like champagne etc. It's my way of showing my appreciation for them. I've got a President, a Vice President, board members etc. They are all great gentlemen. As for a whitelist, no I don't keep one of those in the literal sense. I treat all my regulars the same but they have to earn their way in and that comes with consideration, etiquette, respect etc. They are only invited into the "club" even though it only exists based on their good merit. They all laugh when I tell them they are part of the VIP club but I know it makes them feel extra special. :)

I would love for deposits to be an industry standard, but until we deal with criminalization and stigma, I don't see it happening. I do know some providers who require one, but they tend to be providers with well established businesses who are in demand enough to be very selective about taking on new clients. Obviously they're not in the majority. I do require a deposit for clients who want to book more than two hours or want me to coordinate multiple people or special equipment/supplies for a scene. I think this is reasonable and it seems that clients who are serious about making one of those sessions happen understand the need for a deposit. (Also for clients who have cancelled multiple times or no showed, if I'm willing to see them at all.) I really appreciate clients who are willing to put down a deposit and don't make an issue out of it. It demonstrates to me that they're serious about showing up, they respect my time, and they recognize that there's a lot of time and labour invested into a session before it even starts. And being relaxed rather than wondering if the client is going to bother to show up is a much better mental state to start a session in. Cancellation fees too. While it sucks to have to pay a cancellation fee if you have a legit reason for a short notice cancellation, doing so without complaining is gracious and respectful. For many providers, your fun money is our rent money, and recognizing this imbalance really shows a lot of consideration.

It's a good time to bring it up. It would help alleviate the problem. However, I think "it" happening is a little ahead of it's time. That boat is not ready to float, "yet." Talking about it now can only help alleviate the problem or deposits may happen in the future. More input on this from both sides might stir things up. We need to look out for SPs, they bring us so much joy and happiness!
