RG... it now goes to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights (JUST). The committee will meet whenever scheduled - we are not privy to it at the present time. Silver lining??? I've had a few people ask me what I think about the proposed legislation. Of course I'm upset at the disrespect and disregard that Pete, Steve and the cons have shown towards sex workers placing them in greater danger than ever before under the guise of protecting our communities, how friggin noble. How safe are those communities going to be with dead prostitutes in them ? Those who know me well know that I use humour as a coping mechanism. This is what I think about the whole sorted mess. Amazing how these guys with their fancy high priced education can't see the difference between sex work, prostitution and human trafficking.

Geez, brings back memories. I'm not a fan of football...can't stand the game actually but met a few of the players. Stand-up guys. Joy Smith is a powerful and influential MP, do not underestimate her. She says things like "The Criminal Intelligence Service Canada estimates a single Canadian victim of sex trafficking is worth approximately $280,000 per year to her pimp. This is big money, and our youth are their targets." People read that and think every SP is making $280k for a pimp. Speaking on bill C36 "This is a blow to the many brothels masquerading as massage parlours that saturate our communities" Parlours are in big trouble. Smith is very good at painting a black and white picture: ALL prostitutes are victims, ALL customers are exploiting them.

I'm not sure that this is the best indicator on which members to focus on. There are many reasons MP's do not vote on bills. It COULD be that they don't support it or it could be they had other things to do. Bottom line is the Conservatives have a majority. I doubt any Conservative would put their political life on the line for this Bill.

Just wanted to say that after being on Cerb for 4 years and meeting many SP's and MA's over the years that I have learnt a lot about the women who have chosen the is path as a career. University educations that they are trying to complete. This job is demanding as it involves many hours of marketing, emailing, posting ad's answering text and PM's. McKay makes it sound like they are only going after a few "perverts" but in actual practice they are routinely fishing in people's email accounts and text message records, thousands of people a day.

It's all relative I think, some guys on here won't care and kudos to you, and I'll enjoy reading your recos but for some it's a big issue. I think for myself that I would have to think long and hard about continuing. I do have lots that I want to do in life and I would hate to have to jeopardize my future with getting caught. I would have to see how things play out. But if caught by the police it will be much easier for them to charge you with a crime and maybe end up on the sex offender's registry (possibly)... Well, the criminal record part doesn't worry me too much. But that's just me. I think the big thing here is what some have already mentioned. The enforcement of the law. The government will toss a little money at it and in the short term, police will step up the presence on the street side and at questionable agencies where under age girls could be involved. The "Johns" will get busted and the Tories and religious right wing will be singing the praises and twisting their arms patting themselves on the back. Over some time, however, the resources won't be there for L.E. and prostitution in this country will be like everywhere else in the world. Supposedly illegal to buy sex but most cops just looking the other way other than in circumstances where it is blatantly being exposed to the general public. All these "morality" laws are just made to appease the do-gooders who don't want to see it. Honestly, I truly believe if you were to sit down privately with most cops, they probably aren't too much in favor of this legislation. It just creates extra work on an already heavy workload. That's just the way I see this going. Sex has been "for sale" since the dawn of human history. I doubt this will have a great impact in the long term. I also doubt the cops will be targetting touring or discreet SP's and their clients as much as the guys picking girls up off the street corner. Having said that, any decision I make about continuing this hobby or not will be based on many other factors, not this one.

Everyone is lonely at some point it's the cause that should be the important thing. There are those who aren't comfortable in their own skin or with who they are so lonely follows them. Other have picked the wrong people to be their friends so find themselves lonely in a crowd. Some find it a challenge, for whatever reason, to sustain a meaningful relationship. All these require personal change in order to change the circumstance. In these, an SP might make a very short term impact but in order to maintain it, it would cost a lot of money. It would be like an addiction, you crave to feel better even if for a short period so do anything to get that "hit". Definitely not healthy. Now for those who are between relationships or have a very healthy social life, content with who they are, adding an SP to their lives as a companion, then yes, very much a way to cope.

I've seen a a number of SP's and liked some, some were average, and some where I wish I had just stayed home. Paige though was excellent and has been the only SP I have repeated with, and the 2nd time was even better than the first.
