They probably made the first reading very extreme in the hopes of losing less in re-writings. This would never pass constitutional muster.

Hi everyone, I just read this and I would like to clarify a few things. I believe like many have said, there are many reasons for SPs to prefer a certain clientele but please let's not generalize about black males being "pimps", "lacking hygiene" or not "being respectful" cause that happens with all races. And I speak from experience. Again, an SP has the right to choose the clientele she's comfortable with but I find such prejudice based on skin color very unfair and many black males that are very respectful suffer from this misconception. For your information, there are also black males that are safe, professionals, respectful, polite & definitely not pimps. Let's keep our eyes open to avoid the bad guys, but let's not generalize. Not just me either... We do have two mods here (and occasionally a third) and lots of great members who flag the bad posts for us. It really is all about the community.

In part they're playing to their 'core constituency' of social conservatives but this could have very serious and broad implications. I agree that most Canadians don't share these self -righteous puritanical attitudes, but that hasn't stopped this gang before. The law, if it passes, may well be struck down by the Supreme Court, but not before causing a lot of problems.

CBC News poll just said 12% support the new law, 86% do not. If this is true, there is good chances that (hopefully) the Tories will soften the laws

I have been a member for very short time, but every time I come to the board and read ANY thread, it is always comforting and refreshing to know that there are a lot of good people in this industry (from both sides) who are genuine and caring. Certainly the established set of rules and the excellent work if the Mod and council are major reasons for the success of this board but I also think the people who regularly come to this site value the community that has been created and want it to continue so they support the rules and the mod.... we know what an excellent resource this is and that if we don't support it the amazing SP's will not be comfortable being open here.

mod is the key. There is a strict no nonsense approach to things, including slander, trolling, negative attitude, and even questionable ad titles. Anyone can come here and know they can freely post, even disagree, and not be attacked by moderators with personal vendettas, or favourtism of posters who are hostile and aggressive. Nobody who says nice things about sps gets called names or gets discredited. We see that kind of behaviour on other sites all the time, question it and the whistleblower becomes the target of abuse. Blow a whistle here, and a happy parade starts :)

I've been a member on here for a couple years now and as you can see have not posted many times, however have gained some valuable information in my decisions of who to see and who to avoid. Well, the survey was... interesting. They start with an overview of the legal models relating to sex work, but unaccountably omit the one that exists in Canada at the moment. They consider all responses to be received from Canadian individuals, unless the response self-identifies as being from a foreigner or a group. They make no mention of the possibility of duplicate responses. I really can't see the point of this. The problems with the survey are so bad as to make it meaningless. It doesn't even look like it's been properly rigged to ensure the "right" answer. I don't honestly think it has any purpose other than its own existence, so that the government can say, "Look! We did a survey!" IANAL, but I don't see the point, yet. There's no legislation even officially proposed, never mind far enough through the process that we can really see what it'll look like. And so there's still nothing concrete that your lawyer can give you advice about.
