Outing is not an answer or should it even be considered an option. The problem is the damage done to the already tarnished image of our industry. I fight tooth and nail to prove to every guest that I am an ethical professional; the blow back will touch every provider where it hurts the most, in the wallet. The PC's will not back down and we will continue to fight. We already carry the reputation of being diseased, lying, stealing manipulators. Now lets add to the greatest fear clients have besides STD/STI's; being outed. Every SP will spend countless hours explaining that she can be trusted with a clients personal information simply to try and maintain her safety. For what? So a couple of men can walk around embarrassed for a month or two then try to rebuild their lives? We are a community, we should be protecting each other. The minute "they" make us enemies, we are screwed. Disclosing names will not fix the issue, it will simply destroy innocent lives of the families involved. No good will come of it except to make juicy newspaper porn for people who aren't even on the fringes of our struggles. The wives, children, parents and friends will bear the brunt of the disclosure. To me, the collateral damage is unacceptable when we know the bomb will not take out the target. There would be no end to justify the means... cat

No one should ever be outed ! What happens to the trust and discretion? Bad idea on all fronts no matter the situation.

Sometimes maybe we don't mention it but what would you find more discreet? Parking in a driveway or visitor parking or parking down the street and walking up to a house/apartment? If you park in a designated area, it looks like you belong! It looks like you are visiting and if (and I mean IF) someone approached you (highly unlikely) you could say you are visiting a friend. In my opinion, you are more likely to stand out and risk such questions if you are acting suspicious, which odd parking habits illicit! Think!!!

I don't think ANYBODY should be outed based on their profession and occupation. As long as they treated the ladies appropriately and respectfully....and no abuse of any sort took place. The fact that they may be two faced lying bastard public figures.....does not constitute a reason to out them in my opinion and do irreparable damage to their family and friend. My way of thinking is we must always think of all of the other people that get hurt down the line when you take action. Now if those same public figures continue to visit ladies after the bill kicks in and get caught....then I would hope that they may get what's coming to them and everything the book has to throw at them. But that's just my take on it.

No outing the Cons is not justified even though they are CONS. I have met people in a position of power and/or affluence and would never dream of outing them. I've also come into contact with regular people who have a position of power in Ottawa within the careers that they hold and the same applies as well. Your secrets are safe with me! I would expect the same in return. Treat others as you would want to be treated. Outing someone would just set a precedent for other unsavory sex workers to use this as an excuse to blackmail their clients once these new laws come into effect. This is definitely not the way to go about it even though I can't stand Harper, Mackay et al. This industry has already been pushed underground enough. Condoning blackmail and threats, etc to expose someone isn't going to help anything. Exposing a Con or someone else on Parliament Hill may feel good in the moment but think about the consequences these actions will have in the long run. If a person is going to expose someone in the government, what is stopping a sex worker from threatening and/or blackmailing and/or expose a regular Joe Blow or John Doe later on feeling they have the right to do so because it was done to someone in the Conservative party or another party? Absolutely nothing! Once these new laws come into effect, I will have a booking process that will ensure safety and complete discretion for my clients. As they say, "Discretion is the better part of valor."

There is so much controversy surrounding this topic because, as a sex worker, your business is built on confidentiality and discretion. I look at the much bigger picture of C36 and that is the government trying to impose it's "moral center" on citizens of the country they are supposed to represent. Within this, they are trying to restrict the rights and liberties of those citizens. It may be sex workers today but who will it be tomorrow? I'm sure every person voting on this who has partaken of a sex worker has that little voice calling them a hypocrite. Whether they choose to listen or not depends on on their own moral fiber. If someone is willing to vote to take away one persons rights while secretly protecting their own..... I don't care what race, religion, sexual choices or distinctions, gender or any other "qualifier" you are, you are a person and deserve to be treated with respect and protected for your right to be who you are. Anyone looking to impose their crap on others while doing what they want, deserves what they get. Live and let live.

Susan Davis, British Columbia Coalition of Experimental Communities Dear Susan, I am writing to many of the groups and persons who have stood with Valerie, Amy, me and our legal team against the prostitution laws that were struck down. These groups and persons have voiced their support in so many ways and their messages were heard across the country again and again. I thank all of you for that support. I have done so in person when able. The new law, Bill C-36 is of course an outrage. It will of course fail before the courts, fail in its implementation, and in the process its supporters will again be discredited. You and all the others have already been to helping to ensure that failure will happen. Recently I testified before the Senate and in the question period after opening statements I was ejected. This got a lot of attention. One of the things I said, which also got much attention, was that I would expose some clients of sex workers. Everyone thought I meant politicians who supported C-36. I have an advisory group working on the legalities and mechanics of that process. Part of that process, if in fact I do follow though, is determining what sex workers think about exposing some clients, and I am writing to ask you to tell me what you think. Please ask your colleagues to tell me as well by sending me an e-mail at the address below. One reason for exposing some clients is to show how unfair the law is when sex workers can report clients to the police and only the client is charged. This means, it would seem, that blackmail and entrapment have largely been legalized. This would probably add fuel to constitutional challenges. Professor Young also pointed out at the Senate that immunity from prosecution has until now only been given by prosecutors, not in legislation, as C-36 does. So exposing clients would show how irrational the law is, as well as illegal itself. exposing would probably also add this fuel as well to constitutional challenges. Another obvious reason for exposing is to show the hypocrisy of those who want to impose their will on others while themselves engaging in the very behaviour they want to others to stop. Yet another reason is to ensure the public remains aware of this issue and of the dangers and are unfair hardships the government's approach would create for those in the sex trade. Nothing attracts media attention as much as politics combined with scandals of this kind. I could mention other reasons, but enough for now. However, concerns come to mind too. Does exposing set a bad precedent for the sex trade overall, even if the law is not implemented to any extent or frozen in the courts right away? What other negative repercussions there be for sex workers if I did release part or all of my list? What would the consequences be if I just released one or two or a few names? What should be the criteria for names chosen for release? Would you and your members and colleagues prefer me to back off exposing clients altogether, and if so why? I seek your help in answering these questions. Please share this with all you wish to share it with. I will read all e-mails sent to me and take all advice very seriously when I decide what to do. I don't know how many times I've expressed this to clients. 90% follow my protocol but to the ones who don't or haven't. ... Do they realize what a heat score they are being when they park far away? You are not doing a favor to yourself by trying to be secret agent. You are not secret agent by doing this! In fact when you think you're being so discrete, you're not! There are eyes everywhere. Act like you belong. Do they think neighbors won't notice them parking far away and wondering why they just don't park in the laneway?To them it looks like you don't belong there and this will raise red flags. Then some have the nerve to complain that they are worried about neighbors being outside as they have to walk past them. What do they think would of have happened when they leave. When instead they could have just jumped in their car and drove away. If you worry about an SP seeing your car or license plate and worry they are going to blackmail you, you should be even more worried if a neighbor thought you were suspicious by parking far away and they do take note of the license plate. Think about it. I offer discretion to my clients. I don't care what your real name is, etc. etc. I don't care about what kind of car your drive. I'm not interested.. All I care about is you show up and are discrete. This is becoming a problem a lot of the time and the number one thing about this job that truly upsets me. Do as the SP instructs because she knows her surroundings better than you do in order to keep your level of discretion and safety.I know exactly what goes on in my neighborhood. The client doesn't so please show good judgement call and think about the SP and what she has to deal with. The next client that does it to me, I won't answer the door. There will be no appointment. Interesting question. I have always had fantasies until recent years.
